Risk Communication in the Age of Mis- and Disinformation: Delivering Accurate Information in Food Safety

急速に変化する今日の国際社会において、リスクコミュニケーションはこれまでにない複雑な課題に直面しています。食品リスクのグローバル化、気候変動による食料安全保障への影響の拡大に加え、ソーシャルメディアや生成AIに起因する誤情報・偽情報の氾濫など、一般市民が正確で信頼できる情報を受け取ることの重要性はこれまで以上に高まっています。 本シンポジウムでは、食品安全に関する科学的根拠に基づく正確な情報 提供をいかに強化するかを考察します。国際的な専門家が、誤情報・偽情報を検出・対抗するための最先端のシステムを紹介するとともに、それらが拡散する社会的増幅メカニズムについて分析します。 さらに、消費者をエンパワーし、政策立案者を支援し、食品システムへの信頼を回復するための、強靭なリスクコミュニケーション戦略の構築方法について議論します。

 

In today's rapidly evolving global landscape, risk communication faces unprecedented challenges. From the globalization of food risks and the growing impact of climate change on food security, to the rise of mis- and disinformation fueled by social media and generative AI—ensuring the public receives accurate, trustworthy information has never been more critical. This symposium will explore how to strengthen the delivery of accurate, science-based information about food safety. International experts will present cutting-edge systems for detecting and countering disinformation, and analyze the social amplification mechanisms that fuel its spread. Together, we’ll examine how to build resilient communication strategies that empower consumers, support policy makers, and restore confidence in food systems.
